Togo joins the successive agreements

Published on 2017/03/01

Republic of Togo has joined the two treaties of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) on unlawful acts directed against the safety of maritime navigation (hereinafter: SUA Convention), as well as the control of harmful anti-fouling systems used on ships (hereinafter: the AFS Convention).

SUA Convention regulates issues such as combating unlawful acquisitions of ships by force, use of violence against persons on board of the ships and the placing of equipment on board of the vessels, which can damage or destroy it. Whereas, the parties of the AFS Convention are required to prohibit or restrict the use of harmful anti-fouling systems on ships sailing under their flags.

Documents of accession have been deposited at the headquarters of IMO in London, on 6 February this year.
